Our Approach
Is to listen to stakeholders and present draft policies to the electorate designed to be flexible, open to democratic input and voter focussed rather than politically driven. We aim to build up our resource base and seek to support the advancement of higher standards in public life with selfless servants of the community.
Subject to resources we will work with like-minded individuals and organisations to:
• Seek to safeguard existing democratic institutions, processes and human rights.
We will engage with stakeholders to ensure democratic processes, structures or institutions are not undermined by 'modernisation', expediency or by inappropriate politically motivated manipulation.
• Support and promote new initiatives and structures which enhance political/public service and democracy.
We will consult with stakeholders to promote and deliver improvements to democracy by promoting the highest standards of public service commensurate with the 'Seven principles of public life'·
• Form alliances with people who value democracy and what it stands for.
We aim to provide a forum/link/think-tank - with signposting, where supporters of democracy can communicate or meet, exchange thoughts, plans and ideas and where they can gain support from like-minded individuals who value democracy standards and human rights.
• Provide advice on how to be a candidate and to serve with high standards in public office.
This could include support for independent candidature of any elected office and could include prospective and serving Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and prospective Councillors or Mayoral candidates etc.
